Blue Devils Football Are Playoff Bound After Blowout Win Over Wilbur Cross

In 2019 the West Haven High School Blue Devils Varsity Football Team went 2-8 and were one of the worst teams in Connecticut high school football. In 2020 COVID hit the country which led the CIAC to cancel the football season, but yet allowed the soccer season to run. In 2020 the Blue Devils lost many players due to graduation so going into 2021 they would have many of their powerful players in their senior season along with a big amount of young and in a way inexperienced starters to fill in the empty spots. 2021 featured a handful of injuries to key players, including the Devils starting QB in what was week 2 of a 12 week season. Now coming into the season as a whole the Devils were projected to win around four games and go 4-6, last night the Devils won their eighth to improve to 8-1 after a 48-0 blowout win over the Wilbur Cross Governors.

With that said the West Haven Blue Devils are playoff bound as they clinch a berth after being 2-8 their previous season. The Devils are currently 6th in the CIAC Class LL standings with one week left of the season. What makes this even more impressive is that the Blue Devils competed the past several weeks with their second string QB Nick Conlan. Conlan has demonstrated early D1 material and can easily lead the Devils to history in just a few weeks. The Blue Devils will face Fairfield Prep on Thanksgiving Eve to close off their season, the game will be at the Devils home stadium where they are undefeated this season.
