Carlos Rodon signed a $162M contract that is split across six years and carries a $5M signing bonus with the New York Yankees over the offseason.
He has not played in a single regular season game yet, but that could change in the coming weeks.
Rodon played catch on Sunday following an CT scan on his back that was “barking,” according to Manager Aaron Boone.
The former Giant originally went on the IL during spring training due to a forearm muscle strain. It is not expected that the back issue will prolong a return by a lot. He is scheduled to return to bullpen throwing quickly with hopes of his pinstripe debut set for early May.
