Earlier today the New York Mets acquired Trevor Gott and Chris Flexen for Zach Muckenhirn, from the Seattle Mariners.
Seattle recently DFA’d Flexen after the 29-year-old posted a 7.71 ERA through 42.0 innings this season. New York will follow suit as the Flexen reunion to his former team will be short lived.
The Mets have chosen to DFA Chris Flexen immediately following the trade. New York will pay the $4M that is owed in a way to balance the trade as Gott is the Mets’ plus-one in the pen.
Chris Flexen played for the Mets from 2017-2019, appearing in 27 games and pitching in 68.0 innings for a bloated ERA of 8.07 with a 3-11 record.
