CT's Top Running Back Transfers To West Haven

Camren Kemp is ranked as one of Connecticut’s top runners and in a surprise move he is now a Westie Blue Devil.

The 5-foot-10 standing senior brings his talents and 4.40 speed to West Haven and Blue Devils football.

Coming off of a 1,043 rushing season with 12 end zone appearances. His season was cut short when he dislocated his elbow in an eventual 27-23 loss against West Haven.

Being a Hamden Dragon one week ago, he is now a rival Devil. Since September 1st, Kemp has been getting used to his new West Haven squad. CIAC rules allow transfers who change addresses to play immediately.

The tailback will be in uniform when West Haven heads to play Staples-Westport on Friday night.

Overall, the transfer appears to be very surprising for both sides.

“My kids, they all know him, during our scrimmage vs Maloney (Thursday) they kept telling me he was coming to West Haven,” Blue Devils coach Rich Boshea said.

“I guess he’s moved to West Haven,” said Dragons coach Tom Dyer.

The move undoubtedly will put a deep cut in the Dragons offense as they look to replicate a 9-2 season. Meanwhile West Haven were almost perfect with a 9-0 record ; Their first loss came in the final week of the regular season against Fairfield Prep.

West Haven’s top three rushers all graduated in June, with over 20 of their other teammates.

Camren Kemp will be a seasoned veteran amongst a young running squad. He will also have a chance to face his former team when West Haven makes the drive to Hamden on October 6th.
