Forgotten Yankees: Jacob Barnes

Jacob Barnes will go down as one of the biggest forgotten Yankees in New York sport history.

Why? You ask – Well it’s because he only appeared in a single game in 2022 and pitched 1.2 innings before his time in the Bronx came to an end.

Barnes was no stranger to New York baseball, spending part of 2021 with the Mets.

He was acquired by the Yankees after being released from the Detroit Tigers. Barnes signed a minor league contract on August 31st, 2022, and was sent to Triple-AAA SWB.

The Yankees promoted Barnes on October 1st, where he made his pinstriped debut against the Baltimore Orioles.

Barnes went 1.2 innings and allowed 2 hits with 0 earned runs enroute to a 8-0 Yankees win.

After the game the bridge relief pitcher was outrighted by the organization back to Scranton, where he would later elect free agency on October 24th.

The Yankees mark just 1 of 9 different teams the journeyman has been on.
