Earlier today the New York Mets DFA’d Darin Ruf, ending a horrific campaign with the team.
The 36-year-old batted .167 in 11 spring training games, where he posted 9 strikeouts to just a single RBI. Ruf was acquired late in 2022 from the Giants and only appeared in 38 games, to which he only batted .152 going 10-for-66.
With the 36-year-old being DFA'd it will make a spot on the 26-man, it was later announced that Tim Locastro will fill that void. Locastro will be part of the Mets' bench and will most likely be used for pinch running.
Locastro is used to playing in New York, being part of the Yankees in 2021 and 2022. The righty batted .188 with 8 stolen bases in 47 games.
