Gang Green Rookies Excel In Preseason Opener

Our first taste of Jets football this season was quite sweet, but also unexpected.

The preseason matchup against Washington was slated to be a very offensive-based game for Gang Green after their domination in joint practice with the Commanders.

So, let’s focus mainly on the offense. I mean that is what everyone is really paying attention to, right? The Jets have had a top 5 offensive two-years in a row now, it’s been an offense that they have been lacking.

Tyrod Taylor got limited reps and threw for negative yardage for his only completion.

It was the Andrew Peasley and Adrian Hernandez show today in the backfield.

Both Peasley and Hernandez were late additions to training camp, but it didn’t matter for the QBs.

Peasley had the best day out of the three Jet quarterbacks, completing 8-out-of-11 passes for 73 yards and the only Jets passing touchdown. Hernandez completed 60% of his passes (6/10) for 104 yards.

Braelon Allen had himself quite a preseason debut. The fourth-rounder rushed for 54 yards, averaging 9 YPC.

Brandon Smith also had himself a preseason debut to remember as well. Smith caught both passes that went his way and racked up 70 yards.

The game would end with a late New York field goal to win it, 20-17, avoiding the new rule of getting a preseason tie.
