Giants' Fans Need To Believe In The Tommy DeVito Story

Tommy DeVito threw for 6,516 yards and had a 43-16 TD-INT ratio in 39 college games with Syracuse and Illinois.

Devito’s nickname in college was Tommy DeVictory. Not to mention he’s a Turnpike kid, growing up in Livingston, New Jersey.

Going undrafted, he would end up with the New York Giants in the preseason, being one of the standout players on New York’s roster.

DeVito would spend the majority of the season on the practice squad, that was until injuries hit and a nightmarish season sprouted.

DeVito would appear in the fiasco of what was the Jets v Giants game, throwing for -1 yards. After Tyrod Taylor’s injury, DeVito would be set as the second-string QB behind the recovered Daniel Jones.

It was not long until Jones got the injury bug again. A torn ACL in Vegas led Tommy DeVito to come in via relief and play the majority of the game.

The Raiders game marked the closest to a start that DeVito has gotten, he went 15-for-20 passing with 175 yards and a touchdown, while throwing multiple interceptions.

Nevertheless he looked solid, he looked comfortable, he didn’t look like a rookie who was playing in his second career game.

So with Daniel Jones out for the season and the New York Giants sitting 2-7, DeVito was named starter for the Week 10 affair against the Dallas Cowboys.

With the undrafted rookie starting, it seems like Big Blue is giving up on their season and playing for draft picks now, and we are still several weeks away from Thanksgiving.

If New York wins 8 straight they would go 10-7, which could notch them a wild card, but the possibility of 8 straight wins for this Giants team is wild in itself. Crazier things have happened though.

Last season the 49ers uncovered the hidden gem of Brock Purdy, a QB who was drafted as the last overall pick. Purdy went 5-0 and led San-Fran to the playoffs.

If Tommy DeVito could post a winning record (min. 5-3) or somehow play on Madden easy mode and go 8-0 then that would be a story for the ages.

The only difference between DeVito and Purdy is one draft pick. It is a story of the undrafted vs Mr. Irreverent.
