Houston Texans Sign Former Jets QB Tim Boyle To Practice Squad

Former New York Jets quarterback Tim Boyle is back in the league with a new team.

The Houston Texans signed Tim Boyle to their practice squad on December 19th. Boyle will wear jersey No. 16 and is expected to be elevated prior to Houston’s Christmas Eve matchup against the Cleveland Browns, as CJ Stroud is still dealing with concussion protocol.

Tim Boyle was released by the New York Jets on December 5th, after starting 2 games in place of the then benched Zach Wilson.

Boyle went 0-2 as a starter and was eventually benched himself in the middle of his second start for Gang Green. He gained national attention on Black Friday when his hail mary throw was returned 99 yards by Jevon Holland for a Miami Dolphins Pick 6, the play was later dubbed as the “Hell Mary.”

Timmy B’s time in New York saw him post a 1-4 TD-INT ratio. His 62.3 completion percentage (48/77 passing) ranks 6th in franchise history among New York Jet quarterbacks with 40 or more passing attempts. Boyle’s 48 completions across 3 games notched him 360 yards.
