IKF's Pitching Gives Yankees' A "Video Game Season"

Isiah Kiner-Falefa has posted a .982 fielding percentage in 394.0 innings this season with the Yankees. IKF came up as a catcher/third baseman with the Texas Rangers, so Aaron Boone having the six year vet play outfield makes perfect sense *typed with sarcasm*.

The Yankees have one of the better records in the league this season, but overall they have not played like a playoff contending team. New York has used a position player on the pitching mound several times this season due to being blown-out late in games.

With that the Yankees have turned to IKF and he has been great. He doesn’t throw fast at all, topping out in the mid-to-high 60s.

Through four relief appearances, IKF has a 2.25 ERA with a 1.000 WHIP through 4.0 innings, where he has 1 strikeout.

It’s almost comedical seeing IKF on the mound this much though, it is as if you are watching a video game season unfold. New York has the second-highest payroll in all of the league and have had 5 total relief appearances by position players and he just hit halfway.

IKF’s four relief appearances this season (as of 7/6/23) are more than Colten Brewer (3), Jonathan Loaisiga (3) and Matt Krook (2), who are all true pitchers by position.
