Future hall of fame pitcher Jacob deGrom is set to become a free agent on Thursday. The big righty is coming off of a season where he put up a 3.08 ERA through 11-games and 64.1 innings pitched.
The two-time CY Young pitcher has been riddled with injuries over the past three seasons, despite that though he has put up a 2.05 ERA in 38-games and 224.1 innings.
The 34-year-old has been linked to a possible signing with the Texas Rangers. The possible contract has deGrom going to Texas on a $180M/4yr contract.
It is expected that the Mets will make a run to bring deGrom back for 2023. The NL team has already signed reliever Edwin Diaz to a $102M/5yr contract, making him the highest paid relief pitcher in MLB history.
Overall deGrom can provide lockdown innings and a high strikeout rate if he is healthy. deGrom's injury history will play a huge factor into who signs him along with the money he gets.
