Jets Make Multiple QB Roster Moves Amid Jordan Travis Injury Update

The Jets 2024 draftee may miss the majority of his rookie season

When the New York Jets drafted Jordan Travis, they knew he still had a long road of recovery. Nevertheless, New York took a gamble on Travis with the idea in mind that this would likely be a redshirt year anyways for him – that’s the benefit of having a healthy future hall of fame quarterback as your starter.

There is a non-confirmed expectation that Travis would receive minimal to absolutely zero playing time this season, and instead use year 1 to learn from Aaron Rodgers.

Despite that notion, it looks like Travis will not be able to play even if there was a prime opportunity, with the Jets’ most recent roster moves being very telling.

New York released QB Ben Bryant almost as fast as they signed him. In replacement is newly-signed Adrian Martinez, who won MVP in the UFL.

The signing comes as it is now expected that Travis will head to the IR. The speculation and now the addition of Martinez comes after Robert Saleh said during a press conference on Thursday, that Travis’ road to recovery is "going to take a little longer than we were hoping."

Martinez is expected to be the emergency 3rd-string QB / practice squad arm for the current time being. He is depth-chartered being franchise starter Aaron Rodgers and veteran backup Tyrod Taylor.
