Joe Schoen Puts Daniel Jones As 2024 QB1, Won't Rule Out Getting A QB In Upcoming Draft

New York Giants GM Joe Schoen expressed his belief in quarterback Daniel Jones today in a press conference while dissming any rumors that New York will move on from Jones this offseason.

Schoen stated that Daniel Jones will be New York’s QB1 once he returns from an ACL injury. Jones is five days post-op and has around an 8-12 month recovery ahead of him, which could put his return in line for the 2024 preseason games.

Jones went 1-5 under center this season and was on pace for 60 turnovers at one point. Jones has been known to give Big Blue the blues as that 2022/23 season looks more and more like an outlier.

Jones inked a contract with New York over the offseason which puts him as a Giant at least until 2026. The 4-year/$160M contract carries $82M guaranteed.

Schoen said “I’ve seen it. You guys all saw it last season. The guy (referring to Jones) won 10 games. He won a road playoff game for the Giants.”

Schoen also said that he expects to add a quarterback this offseason, whether in free agency or the draft, but made it clear Danny Dimes will be QB1 once he is healthy and cleared to play.

The Giants, who are 4-4 and riding a two-game winning streak, hold a top 10 pick in the 2024 draft.
