Last night the New York Yankees went up against the Texas Rangers after struggling as of late. On the mound for Texas was Hyeon-Jong Yang and on the mound for the pinstripes was Corey Kluber. Over the game we saw the Yankees score just two runs, those coming from a triple to center via Tyler Wade, allowing Kyle Higashioka to score and then a Sac-Fly to left via DJ LeMahieu, allowing Tyler Wade to score, both of these came in the top of the 6th inning.
Corey Kluber was picked up as a free agent after only pitching one inning last season for the Texas Rangers. After having arm problems many did not know if the two-time CY Young winner still 'had it' but last night he showed he did. 28 up and 27 down as Corey Kluber pitches his first career no hitter only allowing a walk! This is the 12th no-hitter in Yankees history, the 6th no hitter in this 2021 MLB season and a no-hitter for the second straight day in the MLB as well.
Corey Kluber pitched a gem as Kyle Higashioka, the career minor leaguer is the catcher of the no-hitter! This is the first no-hitter in Yankees history since David Cone's perfect game against Montreal on July 18th, 1999 and the first on the road since Allie Reynolds at Cleveland on July 12th, 1951.
Corey Kluber and Kyle Higashioka will go down in the history books as May 19th, 2021 was their night.
