March Madness is here for Connecticut High School boys basketball, the CIAC State Tournament playoffs starts tonight. The West Haven Blue Devils come in as the 13th seed, a very shaky inconsistent start to the year was followed up by solid basketball to give the team a 13-7 record. The team started the first half of the season 5-5 to follow up the end of the season 8-2 with at one point riding a five game winning streak. It is now a whole new season, but this time losing is not an option as five rounds are ahead starting tonight. With a 6:30pm tipoff the Devils will face the Trumbull Eagles who are the 20th seed (8-12) tonight.
West Haven is led by Adam El Kharraz and 6’7 big man Javaun Calhoun, add in the No.23 of Dwight Francis and you have the big 3. Trumbull is led by Connor Johnston and Owen Bull, an average offense helped by an elite defense has carried the team to its eight wins. The biggest thing in this game is height, West Haven has the taller players and undoubtedly that will come in handy for rebounds and points in the paint. This has been a comeback season in a way for the team as they look to make the fire they have even larger tonight.
