Big things were expected from New York Jets 2020 first-rounder Mekhi Becton, but it only took the second practice of the 2022/23 preseason for things to come crashing down. During the preseason practice Mekhi Becton suffered a right knee injury. The injury was so bad that the 6’7” 364lbs OT needed assistance from multiple people to help him off the field as he had a severe limp.
Just a year ago Becton suffered an injury on the same knee, the injury had to be surgically repaired and kept him out of action for almost the entire 2021/22 season. An MRI revealed a much more serious injury to his kneecap that can keep him out the entire 2022/23 NFL season.
Becton is set for more tests later in the week to determine a timeline of recovery, but it is expected that he will miss the majority or even the whole upcoming season.
