Newly Drafted Danny Nelson Ranked On Top In Isles' Organization

The New York Islanders farm system is ranked 30th by The Athletic, only ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins.

A low ranking was expected when New York traded away their top prospect Aatu Raty and their 2023 first-round pick. Despite a low ranking, there is still a bright future at UBS.

Danny Nelson was selected in the second-round of the 2023 draft, and is now ranked as the Islanders’ top prospect. Following Nelson is Samuel Bolduc, Simon Holmstrom, William Dufour and Eetu Liukas.

Nelson is one of the youngest and highest drafted players in the Islanders system, so seeing him in a top five ranking is not surprising.

The 18-year-old will be playing for the University of Notre Dame for college hockey. His playing style is described by EliteProspects as a leader who guides the puck carrier and eliminates off-puck threats, along with being a play-driver deeper in the lineup.
