Patrick Mahomes Breaks Super Bowl MVP Curse In 38-35 Win Over Eagles

Chiefs vs Eagles will go down as one of the best Super Bowls in NFL history. The game is an instant classic, a total 73 points were scored with the game coming down to the final minute.

With less than 15 seconds left the Kansas City Chiefs kicked a field goal to take the lead, erasing a 10 point 4th-quarter Eagles lead. KC got in the field goal position off of a controversial Philly penalty. The Chiefs would win, 38-35.

With that Patrick Mahomes is a two-time Super Bowl champion in what was his third appearance. Mahomes was still nursing his high ankle sprain, at one point it took him out of the game. Mahomes undoubtedly benefited from the 30 minute long halftime, as he came back at the start of the second half. It’s also worth noting that Mahomes broke the MVP curse, he is the first regular season MVP to win a Super Bowl since 1999.

Nevertheless you cannot look over the huge performance by Eagles’ QB1 Jalen Hurts, who had possibly the best game by a losing QB in Super Bowl history. Hurts did his job, but was let down by poor defense. The former second-round pick went 27/38 passing, threw for 304 yards and rushed for 70, he had four total touchdowns.

So the 2022/23 NFL season is now over, it was a season full of upsets, domination, controversy along with heartbreak and happiness. At the end there could only be one winner and with that Kansas City are the champions.
