Southern CT Owls Have Chance At Revenge In Week 1 Thursday Night Opener | Preview vs Shepherd

The heartbreak single-point loss is still fresh in the returning Southern Connecticut players as they face Shepherd for Thursday night football.

Last season the Owls gave the then-13th ranked Rams football a run for their money, only to be throated with a late game TD with 23-seconds remaining.

It was a 27-26 point loss, which would be just one of six total losses that the Owls faced during 2023. Four-out-of-six losses were by 7 or less points. It was a dogfight through and through.

Southern comes in with a fresh slate at 0-0. By this time tomorrow night New Haven will either be encapsulated by cheers or will have long lines of quiet expressionless traffic leaving Jess Dow Field.

One thing is for sure though. This is a very different Owls team. In fact, this may be the best Owls squad to hit the field in nearly a decade.

Check out a recent interview with SCSU QB1 Keith Ridley Jr., who is coming off of a dominant stat-based 2023 season which saw him as one of the best among D2 arms.
