Timeless Threads: Yankees Take Decades-Old Turtlenecks To World Series

Updated: 8 hours ago

The third edition of Yankee Stadium opened in 2009, which coincidentally opened the same year the Yankees appeared in and won their last World Series. Yankee Stadium III sits just 500 feet away from the now demolished Yankee Stadium II.

Now, we are yet to see the kind of success in the house that Jeter and Judge built compared to the house that Ruth and Mantle built.

From 2019 to present day, the Yankees have been viewed as legitimate World Series contenders. After many years of falling short and even hitting rock bottom a year ago with an 82-80 record, the Yankees propelled into 2024 set for destiny.

The offseason addition of Juan Soto gave the Bronx their big three of Judge, Soto and a rebounding Stanton.

Last night it all came together, it was like a move. Heck, the whole series was like a movie.

Soto's extra inning home run and Stanton winning ALCS MVP. Not to mention Aaron Judge's bat woke up in the series.

The Yankees are going back to the World Series.

It just feels so right that this postseason saw multiple Yankees opting for the “old school” turtlenecks that conjure up great memories from the past.

It turns out that those turtlenecks are actually from the past.

Per Justin Shackill, those turtlenecks were cooped up in storage for years. Players chose to wear the turtlenecks because they prefer the cotton material.

It fits so well that the Yankees are going to the World Series with the ‘ghosts from the past’ turtlenecks.

The New York Yankees chase their 28th World Series title. The Yankees are 5-2 in their last 7 World Series, which dates back to 1996.
