Former CY Young winner Trevor Bauer is finalizing a one-year contract to play Japanese baseball.
Bauer signed with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball. The team competes in the Central League of the NIP.
This overseas contract comes after being released by the Los Angeles Dodgers and going unsigned as a free agent.
Bauer served a controversial domestic-violence suspension, despite there being no evidence to back the allegations and he was never charged with a crime.
It is speculated that Bauer is playing a season in Japan in hopes of his play attracting MLB teams, prompting a comeback to the majors.
