Tua Tagovailoa was just drafted 5th overall in the 2020 NFL Virtual Draft by the Miami Dolphins, but he is and already should be considered an NFL bust. Tua Tagovailoa played college football for Alabama, in that three year span he played 32 games, starting 24 of them with a passing percentage of 69.3% with 7,442 passing yards and 87TDs to 11INTs. Now those stats seem impressive and they are, during that time he won several awards including SEC Offensive Player of the year, All-American and multiple championships. During that time, that three year span Tua feel victims to several injuries and many of them were not minor ones, as the most recent being a dislocated hip which caused him to miss out on the NFL combine.
Tua cannot, and I cant stress this enough, he cannot get hit. If Tua can get injury after injury after getting hit by collage kids how will he get around the NFL? He cant, Miami has one of the worst defensive lines in the game and with that comes with sacks, lots of sacks. Miami quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a career high 40 sacks for the 2019/20 season, if Tua gets anything like that he wont even make it to mid season. If the Dolphins play it smart they will downgrade and keep Fitzpatrick has a 2nd - String - Quarterback because they will need a good one once Tua is out.
Tua Tagovailoa has a lot of potential, and stat wise he looks like a future pro-bowler, but injury wise he looks like the next RG3, a player with a ton of potential and talent but cant stay healthy. The Dolphins are in the middle of a rebuild currently and I just don't see it being possible for Tua to survive that.
