Yankees Ditch Facial Hair Policy After 52-Years

The Yankees play baseball today for the first time in 2025.

Another season, another year with World Series expectations and a brand new facial hair policy is all the roar for the Pinstripes.

Let's talk about the new facial hair policy.

Yankees Managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner has altered the facial hair policy after having conversations with former and current Yankee players over the past few weeks. Steinbrenner also noted that talks on altering the facial hair and grooming policy date back several years.

Players and uniformed personnel will be allowed to have well-groomed beards moving forward.

Two things I want to say right off the bat: #1- Aaron Judge’s playoff beard is going to be the difference in him batting sub .200 to now smashing the ball. #2 Devin Williams is probably very upset that he had to shave his beard like a week ago just to have the policy change.

Even though it is nice to bring the Yankees into the new century, I actually loved this tradition. It separated the Yankees from every-other team in the league and felt like one of the last true “Yankee” things we had left.

I honestly don’t think it will make anyone play better, but I do think it will attract more free agents who were on the fence to shave their beards, to sign with the team in the future
