Hitting above .300 is rare, now try hitting close to .400, it seems unheard of. For one Yankees’ prospect it seemed like an easy challenge.
Christopher Familia was just awarded the Player of the Month award (June) from the Florida State League, due to his dominating time with Tampa.
Familia hit .380 with 30 hits, 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in June. Overall with Tampa, a .398 average in 21 games with a 1.402 OPS marks his stay in Florida.
His production earned a promotion to Hudson Valley, but he has posted a .190 average in 14 games. If sent back down to lower-A, Familia has a change to regain his hot streak and contend for a .400 season batting average.
